Earth Day
An Earth-Day Survey
Working in groups of four or five, students ask each other about their environmental habits. The winner is the one who has the most yes answers.
If you wish to have an overall class winner,
have each group compose one more question to ask the winners in the other groups.
Prizes: An Earth-Day Certificate for the winner and Earth-Day Bookmarks for the runners-up.
Material:
Worksheet 1 (72k): An Earth-Day Survey
Worksheet 2 (304k): Earth-Day Bookmarks
Worksheet 3 (88k): Earth-Day Certificate
Do It Right!
Working in pairs, students choose pictures showing good and bad environmental practices, cut them out, paste them into a chart, and write captions.
The answers should vary considerably, depending on the students, interpretations of the pictures and their imagination. The left-hand column should contain things to do (e.g., "Turn the light off when you leave the room."), and the right-hand column should have things not to do ("Don't leave the light on . . .").
Material: Worksheets 4a, 4b (380k)
